Grover Neville and I had a chance to talk to Trent Suggs of Audio Research Corporation about the new i/50 Integrated Amplifier and future projects.

Besides coming in a plethora of colors for ears both young and old, the 6550 tubed-based integrated pumps out 50 watts per channel with options for both a MC phono stage and DAC. We didn’t get a listen to this gear, but Trent was excited to bring the famous Audio Research brand to a younger and more entry level crowd with this $5,500 USD integrated.
This is just the beginning of a suite of more products at this price point and Audio Research has been looking into building systems for the entry level market that also allow for system expansion. Look forward to Audio Research for tube-based separates and monoblocks of various configurations.
Audio Research hasn’t forgotten the upper market either and are currently developing new products that will compete in the hi-end market as well. Trent was tight lipped about some of the products forthcoming so we will need to wait until later in the year for more information.
Grover and I were both excited to hear about Trent’s commitment to Audio Research and how the brand plans to expand over the next few years.
