The $16k Acoustic Zen Crescendos have sounded excellent at every show I’ve heard them, and Axpona was no exception. Robert Lee has a winner here, and it’s a pleasure to visit with him every time I get a chance.
The sound was deep, rich and extended. Robert was kind of enough to show me the response curves on the Crescendo — trust me, you’ve never seen an impedance curve that flat before. It’s freaky. Frequency response extends down to a healthy mid-30s, even if this a bit shy of the 20Hz that’s posted online — I suspect that is the -10dB number. Oh well. They sounded great here, showing again with triode gear from Tri.
