When I walked into the YG Acoustics and Bel Canto Design room at Munich 2023, I looked around and noticed something was missing. There were many, many pairs of YG Acoustics speakers in the room, but where was the Bel Canto? I saw Bel Canto people in the room such as John Stronczer and Michael McCormick, and yet all the shiny boxes on the rack said Burmester on them, right down to a gorgeous Burmester turntable and cartridge. That’s when I found out about Vantage 3 Live.

Vantage 3 Live is a new project from both YG Acoustics and Bel Canto Design. Michael McCormick gave me a detailed overview of the project, which starts with an active line of speakers that combine the talents of these two companies. (You’ll know a Vantage 3 Live product by its red logo on the bottom of the speaker enclosure.) Each Vantage 3 Live speaker system features a dedicated controller, DSP crossovers, DAC and 700 wpc channel of Bel Canto power. The YG Acoustic developments include a new lattice tweeter and an enclosure made from an “aerospace alloy.”
When I heard that YG Acoustics and Bel Canto Design room back at AXPONA, I immediately recognized that there was serious synergy between these two companies, so it almost didn’t surprise me when I learned about Vantage 3 Live. The system in this large room didn’t feature the Vantage 3 Live system, however, but rather an entry from the YG Acoustics Peaks line. The sound was still magnetic and thrilling. And yes, the combination of YG Acoustics and Burmester gear and matching room colors made this the shiniest and silvery-est room at Munich. It sounded fantastic, too.
