Team Doshi Audio | PAF 2023

Team Doshi Audio? What’s up with that?

It’s an inside joke, mostly. I always cover a certain group of manufacturers who work together in exhibit rooms at high-end audio shows and always achieve impressive results. We’re talking about Joseph Audio, Doshi Audio, Aurender, Cardas Audio and, most of the time, J. Sikora turntables. I always cover this room for two reasons–I’ve known many of them for a long time, and they’re extremely good at what they do. I always love the sound, but I’ve written about them so many times that I’m having issues with new keyphrases for search engine optimization. I have to come up with new ways to talk about them–hence, Team Doshi Audio.

I used Team Joseph Audio for AXPONA 2023 coverage. When I attended Munich last month, I saw Nick Doshi in the hallway and told him my report on his room would be “Team Doshi Audio.” I then went to his room, and it was packed to the gills. I’ll have to go back in a bit, I thought. On the plane trip home from Germany, I realized I never went back. So this, Nick Doshi, is my apology.

Team Doshi Audio featured the usual cast of characters–the Joseph Audio Pearl Graphene loudspeakers ($44.9K/pr) and the Doshi Audio monoblocks for around the same price. J. Sikora did not have their ‘table in the room–although plenty were present at PAF 2023–but Jeff Joseph was manning the reel-to-reel deck as well as the digital from Aurender.

Every time I walk into the Team Doshi Audio room at shows, I have to make the comment that I love this system because it is my sound, the warm and deep and powerful and natural sound that I strive for in my own systems. At PAF, I was talking with a group of people and the subject turned to this room. The general consensus, of course, is that the Team Doshi exhibit rooms sound consistently great. (That’s because Jeff Joseph is a master at setting up a system, especially when it comes to his speakers.) But someone else in the group said, “That’s so my sound.”

Hey! That’s my line, buddy!

I’ve never heard a show attendee walk out of a Team Doshi exhibit room and say, “that was okay,” or the dreaded “not my thing.” These are great rooms, and if you don’t treat yourself by visiting them at high end audio shows, you were never really there.
